Intimate, poignant, daring, funny, vulnerable — and 100% true. True Stories Night is live storytelling hosted by Shane Callaghan, featuring four storytellers sharing real stories on the theme “Love.” Each teller has 10 minutes.
Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event — often described as a cross between documentary and theatre — creating an intimate, surprising, and sometimes enlightening experience for both audience and tellers.
Theme: Love
Host: Shane Callaghan
Bio: Shane Callaghan is a stand-up comedian from Ireland who has been living in Slovakia for four years. He has toured across Europe with his solo comedy shows and has appeared on national radio and television in several countries, including the BBC. Shane loves storytelling because it’s an accessible art form open to everyone — and, at its best, it reminds us we’re not as different or as alone as we think. As host, he enjoys finding the thread that connects each story and embracing the unexpected along the way.
Storytellers:
Hon Chong
Bio: Hon Chong is an actor, improviser, theatre director, and teaching artist. He is the Artistic Director of Funnylicious Theater in Bratislava, and the founder of ISAC and Story Nights — a grassroots storytelling project.
Originally from Malaysia, Hon has lived in the USA and now calls Bratislava home, where he has spent the longest chapter of his life. He launched the first True Stories Night in Bratislava back in 2015, and has been creating shows and various performances and show formats ever since
Marge Antonicova
Bio: Marge loves stories. She enjoys experiencing them through movies, books, songs, and even video games, and she loves sharing them with others who are just as enthusiastic.
Stories have followed her in many forms: writing movie and book reviews for an online geek magazine, trying her hand at stand-up comedy, and rolling dice with her Dungeons & Dragons group.
After taking a break from performing, she’s happy to be back on stage, sharing a little glimpse of what goes on inside her head.
Daniel Hall
Bio: Daniel is a teacher who has been living and working in Bratislava for almost ten years. He spends his days teaching children how to count, code, create, and several other words beginning with “c.”
After that, he spends time with his daughter, with plenty of love and a little less energy.
He also appears in Kultur Slovensko’s production of Moll ax Canon Pratt.
Seán Macdiarmada
Bio: Seán hails from Donegal, Ireland. He has worked in theatre around the world (Ireland and Slovakia) and is one of the founding members of the political theatre group Spare Parts Theatre.
Although he is a part-time stand-up comic, this will be his first storytelling show.
True Stories Night is produced by: International Society for Arts and Culture, o.z. (ISAC) and Shane Callaghan
